Preparations for Krewe du Vieux Night

The Schmacchus Lounge will be open just about every night from 6pm –9pm to prepare for the night of the Krewe du Vieux parade. An exact schedule T.B.A.

Also, there will be a big party for the coronation of the King of the Jieuxs and the Jieuxish American Princess during this time period. Date and Details also T.B.A.

We have great ideas for simple costumes for the Wandering Jieuxs who were not able to obtain memberships in Krewe du Vieux this year. We are keeping to our once and future slogan “Cheap cheap cheap.”

EVERYONE is invited to come help out in the days preceding the parade (where much of the fun and creativity happen), come out and enjoy the parade, and especially come to the Krewe du Vieux Doo!

Only 12 nights away, The Wandering Jieuxs are encouraged to buy tickets to the Krewe du Vieux Doo and come in costume and to enjoy watching the Krewe du Vieux parade.

“JIEUXS WANDER INTO K.A.O.S.”

Based first on seniority and then on the calculus of nepotism, all the still parading founding members of Krewe du Jieux, the KdJ Wildman and a few Big Machers will be joining the Krewe of K.A.O.S., One of Krewe du Vieux’s sub-krewes, and will march with Krewe du Vieux on this evening. We will be doing our best to represent!

Even if you are not going to be able to parade, much of the real fun happens in preparation for the parade, and knowing that your work brings joys to the oys for countless thousands.

You are cordially invited to attend – and we would love to see you at The coronation of and Passing of the Golden Nose to:

Elliott Raisen - King of the Wandering Jieuxs

With the blessings of Ann Marie, Captain for Life:

Schmacchus, the patently false but nonetheless lovable god of specially sweetened fine kosher wine, hereby and here does invite you to participate in this event.

Although the Box of Wine motif has not yet been announced, given the effects on the weather on the architectural landscape, it has been drunkenly decided that Schmacchus’ motif this year’s shall be:

“The Grapes of Lath.”

Friday March 17, 2006

Jim Monaghan’s Decatur Street Irish Club.

In 1998, after Krewe du Jieux’s 1997 Debut in the Krewe du Vieux parade, Jim Monaghan Sr. invited the Krewe to participate in his annual St. Patrick’s day offering.

The Krewe O’Jieux was formed as Krewe du Jieux’s Second Division. When Jim died, we dedicated that year’s KdJ offering in the Krewe du Vieux parade to him. (You can see a green bagel proudly displayed on the wall at Molly’s at the Market and a framed dedication at the Erin Rose on Conti).

The next St. Patricks’ day was the last for the Krewe O’Jieux as Jim’s grandson and I dissolved it and reformed it as the, “Krewe McJieux” preferring to be associated with super-sizing than the juice of a well prepared rare steak.

It has been brought to the attention of the Last Jewish Leprechaun that others would be interested in converting and starting a tribe of Leprecohens. I will be consulting with rabbis over green beverages and matzos to discuss the details, and will provide said details when they are semi-solid.
